BLUE DOG
by klipschutz
for Kenneth Patchen
“My dog’s bluer than your dog,”
she said to no one in particular.
“Ain’t that right, Blue?”
she continued to his face.
A farther cry from aspiration
could not be
but he was still the bluest dog
you’ll never see.

Nice catch. I was very tempted to put one of the Blue Dog paintings up with this post, but refrained.

If you’re interested, George Rodrique (Blue Dog Gallery) and Garcia Marquez (Eyes of a Blue Dog) are both worth a look.
Klip, Thanks for the poem and for jumping on our week of color poems.
And everyone else too. Thanks for all the submissions. While we have lots of color poems in the holster we’re going to do this for 3 more days or so and then return to reg. postings. Everyone seems to enjoy the colors Blue and White more than any other.
Ideas for a week of poems on the same theme? Send them to us: haggardandhalloo@gmail.com
Thanks everyone!
