Ode to Benny Hill: Scooby Doo Chase Scene
by matt miller

If I were a rich man,
Ya di da da da da da da da da da da da da da,
All day long, I’d eat spiders and flies,
If I were a wealthy man!

I’d…never have to drink blood;
All the victims would be safe and sound,
Their necks only for sport;
All day long, I’d eat spiders and flies,
If I were a wealthy man!

If I were a rich man,
Ya di da da da da da da da da da da da da da,
All day long I’d lead the rats in filth,
If I were a wealthy man!

I’d…never have to infect;
The disease would spread to town and country,
To the little children in their yards!
All day long, I’d lead the rats in filth,
If I were a wealthy man!

    Matt, we haven’t seen you in a while. Welcome back, again. Please put my email and phone # down as your emergency contact in case you go missing again and yr friends need to know when you last submitted. Kidding. Kinda.

    Nice to read you again.

    P.S. I also, if you noticed, made online NOT fit the melody of Fiddler on the Roof, to make the point that our brains recognize musical patterns automatically, and to ask the question therefore: do we appreciate art for what it actually is, or because it fits a pre-defined pattern that people have told us is “good?” What do you think?

    Thanks all! I was inspired by my recent obsession with videos of horrible events in human history with “Yakety Sax” playing over them, proving that, truly, anything is funnier with Yakety Sax. I wanted to combine Yakety Sax with my obsession with vampires, and, well, voila!

    Jinkies! Woulda commented earlier but couldn’t find my glasess…they were at old man Thompson’s farm (go figure!) Yeah, i always remember watching Benny Hill with my grandfather, much to my grandmother’s disapproval. It cracked me up everytime Benny would slap that short old guy on the top of his bald head. Benny was also the toymaker who got shut down in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’. Ah those awful Vulgarians!

    Inventive motiff! Thx Matt!

    Another benefit of Benny Hill lore is that a normally stationary object (like a coffin) would be able to move to any of a hundred doors in the hallway if accompanied by prancy saxaphone arrangements.
