THE CURRENT STATE OF THINGS

One .96 cent bank
account and a
hot pursuit of a
box of pasta
and a boy with earrings
But come on,
who can believe
red-truck declarations
in a black dress at
something like 1
in the morning when
the beach is to the right
and parking is free?
$4.50 is too much
for a vodka-soda,
I’m sorry
Call me tomorrow.

It all boils down to alternatives. What we think we want and then what’s there that we forget about, or just take for granted. Especially when one is poor, you take into consideration the finer ‘free things’ in life…there’s something to be said for asceticism of a sort. Thanks nicole.
