Want to hear my name frequently
said in a 3:00 am whisper
and see my name in the lights
of your eyes
or in chocolate on a cake
celebrating the day
I stepped into my name
and owned it.
Sing my name
while I blow out candles
yell my name if you like
when you are angry
pronounce my name
in a formal introduction
do good deeds in my name
and spare me the effort
print it, Google it, remember it,
use my name in vain
recycle it by naming
a child after me
or place it under
the name of my latest book
but please don’t
chisel it into gray stone
instead let it be
written over and over
like an obsessive
entry in an
endless journal
