Vashon-Seattle, 10/21
by Dan Raphael

Sun darkening clouds with their own shadows
gainst a solid white-grey background
unraveling into clabber south, azure to the west
while east I follow a ridge toward Rainier
bearing falls first white
its top third clouded with todays discussions

On my side of the I-5 median wall
a little north of Olympia
lay a larger deer body, head gone

In my neighborhood store
the woman on the country station sings
“Take me down in a little white dress”
over & over
I can’t not think of first communion
