We Can Smell Invisible
by dirk michener

Like baking cookies and boiling down cabbage.
I can home one day and the apartment smelled like garbage
& I says, [...]

My Private Beard
by dirk michener
today i began growing my beard
its at sandpaper level
girls don’t like beards
too much like their privates
my beard is very private no
keeps to itself
girls don’t like kissing their privates
unless they’re queer
then they’ve no reason to kiss me
one who has a private beard

Talk to the flowers and to God about it
Why did it happen?
Why did all my friends die?
Some days you have to make a decision
Some days you have to make a terrible decision

Johnson City is the Best City
by Dirk Michener
LBJ was into aquacars
He had a whole fleet of them
And trucks
Aquatrucks
They converted into boats and you could motor around the lake
Drive right across a ravine or a fjord
He would go for a drive down one of his dusty old ranch roads
Going about 100 miles-per-hour straight toward a crick
The [...]

trys and grip it w/ little bird feet
and fly
but it just flaps there
w/ orange on ground
then another bird comes along to help
both birds grasping at the orange and flap
flip flapping away and not [...]
