HERE KITTYKITTY KITTY?

HERE KITTYKITTY KITTY?
by nicole kuwik
So my roomate wants the air
to measure s e v e n t y d e g r e e sss
all the time and I’m
freezing but
I sleep with this big cat who thinks I am
a raccoon and he is fuzzy and very warm but
he has been doing something
else these past few nights
So.
I chased an orange cat into the woods
the other day I said herekitty
kitty? kittykittykitty
But who would answer that?
And he looked at me and said
Who would answer that?
yell
ow…
red…
green…
Then he turned tail and disapeered
into the wet leaves and walkingsticks
Leaving me to walk
homealone with
scraped sandles and cold toes
which lasted all night.

  1. Hmm. Something cat owners can relate to–‘the mind of its own kitty’. Damn I thought i was cold-blooded with my AC at 76. Appreciated the spacing at beginning and look thruout of poem. Very stream-of-conscious that touches on those small yet important details which hold our lives together and all hell seems to break loose when the apple-cart is upset.
Congratulations at becoming a regular. I look forward to reading your stuff.
