Proof that poetry is the collection of little details restated in the most wordy way possible. Which isn’t a bad thing, really, if it’s done honestly and not out of a desire to showcase one’s extensive vocabulary. I like this little piece, and wonder where it would go if it be longer. Belonger. Be long, errrrr.
“bear’s eye” makes me think of its more conventional corollary, “bull’s eye”, which then makes me think of bear vs. bull, which then makes me think of the stock market. Which of course got the stuffing knocked out of it last year. I don’t know if any of that is intentional, but its fun to see what word associations can bring out of a little poem like this.
