tales of narcissus

“Tales of the Narcissus”
by Salma Maref
Tarnished,
under feet of adulation,
-perhaps opportunism-
aborting
so-called identity.
Useless to flee,
-on a marble
of withered morals-
once the mind numbed.
Urged,
through the soul,
waged,
for the lure’s thorny,
-but seemingly-
the creed,  crippled.
slipping,
karma
-believed-
ripen ambition
within the womb of greed.
Good-bye credibility!
-on bribe’s petals-
tread,
into the red carpet.
