Wedding Subtext
by Charles Potts
Poor youngsters decked out in clothes that don’t quite fit
Fidget thru the prelims not as nervous as the bride and bridegroom
Keeping perhaps their retail thoughts on love and sex to themselves
After all those teenage and pre-teen romps in the natural
Here’s love at last legitimate
Disturbing the otherwise even tenor of a punch line
From Shakespeare in Argentina
Somewhere on the South Atlantic
Continents still drifting
A couple of otherwise
Unbreakable plates collide.
