A short-spurt log fire,
Close-up door,
Free spaced ferns in pots
And food-for-worms sprawling
Twisted on a crinkled bed.

One wonders why the scene was deleted. “Sammy lulling Bevan” by playing “easy-temper” with strands of hair (seemingly not Bevan’s) panning across a room to what must be a murder victim provides “inescapable revelations” essential to the plot. Scary sense that an actual murder has been committed, off-screen.
