This cant be it…
This cant be it…

If I choose not to believe,
it’s because I except…
I except I only live once,
to believe I live twice would only
put me in a state of fear.
I show that I care,
but put me on the camera,
if I have to act I will.
I claim to be something,
but know nothing of myself.
I am a joke and the world laughs at me,
So what is the point in being so serious?
The more I ask the less I know,
the more I know the less I ask.
This doesn’t say much to me. The last stanza in particular seems like it should say, The more I ask the more I know, the more I know the more I ask.
i read this confessional piece as an expression of the spiritual struggle that the writer has experienced perhaps regarding conventional religion vs. a more personal existentialism. Mysticism may win out against dogma: “The more I ask the less I know, the more I know the less I ask.” It’s something to chew on. Thanks for sharing, Hornet.
