DAMN U DOW
DAMN U DOW
by Ken Williams
In innocence
we watched,
Dow’s special package
delivered
Misty white, so pretty
enchantingly drifting down
Pterodactyl war machines
flying shallow Vs
Poison
Glistening, mesmerizing
late afternoon sun
Shrouding all
living,
those still to die
as it falls
Man made fog
seductive carnage within
Dragon’s foul breath,
Our future death
We were young
uninformed
Nobody said,
“Don’t drink the water”
“Don’t breathe”
Agent Orange
pretty color of death
Then,
Battle raged
napalm ran
flowing river
Deadly fumes
inhaled
Dehydrated bodies
soaking up
unforgiving
unmistakable odor
Benzenes
Invading
Again
crippling innocent lungs, further
robbing the future
Bills became due
just past PTSD
Our blood turned
sour
Only after our
appetite for war did
Too late
did we realize
The cost of
War
Too late
did we realize
The deadly debt
owed to Dow
Damn you Dow
Melancholy outlook on political deaths caused by industrial
war of mechanized process of machinery.
