what passes between us

what passes between us
by Jude Dillon

what passes between us
sparkles

on your lips
closer than talk

listens
and sees

witchy
high wind

delicate
and steady

*

you know
the dark of me

in a dry martini
kinda way

what snowflakes
carve

between now
and spring?

*

the quiet edge of lightning
delays the drift of thunder

as oars creak
in rusty locks
across the water to you

you may walk slowly
in the deep moss
on the blunted stones

loosen
a slow kick
from a brown paper bag

drifting

as oars creak
in rusty locks

*

ripples on the water
hold together
slight sensations

on particular streets
flickers of light
give up
your face

a bicycle
over the bridge
streaming through a gallop of rain

forget
the television
sink
into the darker news
of now

*

quick autumn fires
take a breather in the rain

know how
to die

you are clouds
departing without being obvious

still
wet

long after
the fire goes out

*

  1. JUDE DILLON

Stylistic memory of a visionary day dream involving the impressionism of the unexpected surprises us in a day’s life
transporting us to an oral speaker in a serio-comic language
    of metaphysical beauty.
